Living in Val d’Orcia I’m always excited when I have to shoot a wedding in Pienza, especially if I already met the couple and I know they are fantastic!
This is been a very particular wedding because the bride is Italian and the groom is from France, so they decided to get marry in the Pienza Cathedral but with all the characteristics of a destination wedding in Italy.
I met the couple in Borgo Sant’Ambrogio, an elegant historical residence surrounded by acres of unspoiled nature. In the heart of Tuscany, nestled between the Val di Chiana and Val d’Orcia, the property consists of an estate, which is an integral part of an organic farm, and a large resort for hospitality and organization of events and ceremonies.
The day was wonderful, with the typical colors of the Tuscan landscapes. When I arrived to the villa I was welcomed by the friends of the couple, while they were getting ready in their rooms.
Outside the villa there was an old red Fiat 500 waiting for the bride to go to Pienza Cathedral…I knew it would be nice to see the bride arriving among tourists.
Pienza, in the hearth of the Val d’Orcia, between the towns of Montepulciano and Montalcino, is considered the touchstone of Renaissance urbanism and the Duomo is one of the earliest designed in the Renaissance manner.
I really love wedding in Pienza, tourists who applaud the bride and groom, the incredibile landscape of the Val d’Orcia, the food and Supertuscan wine shops and the colors that are awesome in June.
After the wedding they had a nice aperitif at sunset with all the guests and than again to Borgo Sant’Ambrogio for the receptions and dances.
A special thanks goes to Simone Miglietta, a talented wedding photographer who supported me throughout the service.
